Bullseye

Bullseye shooting is the second most popular discipline, placing second only to High Power Rifle in the number of participants.   Also known as Conventional Pistol, it is an outgrowth of military training programs.   The name of the game in Bullseye shooting is precision.   To do well in this sport you must have nerves of steel and unbreakable concentration.

Rules

Bullseye competition requires a standing, one-handed position.   Competitors may use revolvers or semi-automatic pistols in .22 caliber rimfire and .32 caliber or larger centerfire.   Guns may have open sights or red dot scopes.

Course of Fire

There are three stages to a Bullseye match
  • Slow fire - 10 shots in 10 minutes

  • Timed fire - 5 shots in 20 seconds (twice)

  • Rapid fire - 5 shots in 10 seconds (twice)

The match is shot at  25 yards during indoor competition and 25 yards during outdoor competition.

Matches

Guthsville has two organized bullseye leagues
  • Guthsville Pistol Club

  • Queen City Pistol & Revolver League
These leagues are conducted on Monday and Friday nights, respectively and are open to any experienced shooter.   Experience in the bullseye discipline is not necessary, but safe gun handling experience is required.   Shooters do not need to be club members.   We shoot for 20 weeks per season.   Summer season runs from May to September.   The winter indoor season runs from November to April.   A banquet is given at the end of each season and awards are distributed.

Fees

League fees are a one-time only $5.00 fee per gun and $1.00 per relay.   When shooting indoors there is a $2.00 per night fee for heat and electric.

Equipment

For a new bullseye shooter, a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with red dot scope is recommended.   Ear and eye protection are required at all times.
Shooters must provide their own ear & eye protection, staple guns and staples.   Targets are provided by the league.
